When preparing meals, use this opportunity to teach kids how to follow directions and work together to build a healthy plate. Look for “teachable moments” such as measuring ingredients, talking about healthy choices, or deciding how to fairly divide portions by . Food Network Cooking with Kids: Here is a helpful resources when preparing to cook with kids. It provides recipes as well as playlists of kids cooking.
Google a Favorite Dish: Just google it! Anything from spaghetti to Vietnamese pho has a recipe online. Encourage kids to brainstorm a list of ideas for the week.
►School Closure Food Service Program
The Lansing School District announces the sponsorship of the School Closure Food Service Program for Children starting on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 20 sites.
Parents or children 18 and under will be able to walk up, bike up, or drive a vehicle to a curb side location to pick up a breakfast for the next day and lunch for the day. Multiple days of meals may be picked up at one time, including food that will be needed for weekends. Parents do not need to bring their children to the site to pick up meals.
