"Trauma and Resilience"

Trauma has become a catch phrase over the last few years similar to that of ADHD twenty years ago, but what exactly is Trauma? What are the ramifications of Trauma, and what can parents due to detect if their child is dealing with Trauma? How can parents know if they are struggling personally due to issues of past Trauma? How can families become Resilient in spite of the Trauma that has been experienced? During this session the facilitator will provide an overview of the impact of trauma on families, using trauma informed practices in every day life, and strategies to build resilience in families. Participants will also take part in an ACES (Adverse Childhood Experience Survey) with opportunities for private discussions regarding the results. A list of counseling resources will be provided for all in attendance.
