Why Summer SOAR? 


For many students, summer learning programs can be a transformative experience.  These programs provide opportunities for students to build independence, develop social skills, unplug, and create friendships that will last a lifetime; and this year, summer learning opportunities may be more important than ever.   
 
The Lansing School District understands that summer learning programs can be a formative part of a young person's growth and development.  As such, the district is thrilled to offer a variety of, no cost, exciting Summer SOAR opportunities for currently enrolled Lansing School District students.  Please review our 2021 Summer SOAR program offerings and begin the registration process by clicking on the appropriate link below.  Thank you in advance for doing all that you can to make Big Dreams happen.

Summer SOAR | Screen-to-Screen | Session A & B


Still not comfortable sending your child to school for a face-to-face learning experience?  The Lansing School District has you covered!  This screen-to-screen Summer SOAR program is designed to provide students with additional academic enrichment opportunities in core content areas and beyond.  You can sign your child up for a single 4-week session or sign them up for both sessions.  Session A runs from June 21 to July 15.  Session B runs from July 19 to August 13.
    


Career Exploration | Face-to-Face | Session A & B


It is never to early to begin thinking about the future, right?  The Lansing School District, along with several Lansing-based community partners are teaming up to provide an exciting array of career exploration opportunities through this dynamic Summer SOAR program.  You can sign your child up for a single 4-week session or sign them up for both sessions.  Session A runs from June 21 to July 15.  Session B runs from July 19 to August 13.  Please note that spaces in these programs are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. 

 



Credit Recovery: Apex | Screen-to-Screen | Session A & B


Still not comfortable sending your child to school for a face-to-face learning experience?  The Lansing School District has you covered!  Our screen-to-screen Credit Recovery: Apex program is designed to provide students with virtual opportunities to continue to earn high school credits throughout the summer.  You can sign your child up for a single 4-week session or sign them up for both sessions.  Session A runs from June 21 to July 15.  Session B runs from July 19 to August 13.

Want some flexibility in how your child completes courses through Apex this summer?  The Lansing School District has you covered!  Our Credit Recovery: Apex (Hyrid) program is designed to provide students with a combination of virtual learning and face-to-face support (via our high school based learning labs).  These programs are designed to provide students with opportunities to earn high school credits throughout the summer.  You can sign your child up for a single 4-week session or sign them up for both sessions.  Session A runs from June 21 to July 15.  Session B runs from July 19 to August 13.

 



Live Instruction | Face-to-Face | 8-Weeks


Ready to go back to school?  The Lansing School District has you covered!  We are offering live instruction for some of our most popular high school courses.  Courses vary by school but include core content offerings for credit recovery, or for simply getting ahead.  The live instruction program is designed to provide students with opportunities to continue to earn high school credits throughout the summer.  All live courses require an 8-week commitment and run from June 21 to August 13.  Please note that spaces in these programs are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  

 



Michigan Virtual | Screen-to-Screen | Dates Vary


Still not comfortable sending your child to school for a face-to-face learning experience?  Want to get ahead or take a course not offered in the Lansing School District?  The Lansing School District, in partnership with Michigan Virtual, has you covered!  The Michigan Virtual program is designed to provide students with additional, credit-bearing, academic enrichment opportunities throughout the summer.  Time commitments, content pacing, etc, vary by course.  Please note that high school counselor recommendations are required to register for Michigan Virtual courses.
