Dwight Rich Academy of the Arts Library Media Center Mission Statement

The mission of the Lansing School District Media Program is to encourage academic excellence by providing to students and faculty instruction and services that sustain the school's core curriculum in a welcoming and purposeful environment.

The primary function of the media program is to: promote the intellectual, cultural, social and ethical development of students, provide materials that extend and deepen the experiences encompassed in the curriculum.

The faculty, staff and community of the Dwight Rich School of the Arts are committed to educational excellence, the development of self-esteem, healthy lifestyles, and the cultivation of core academic subjects and social skills in a safe, supportive environment. The staff strives to promote positive behavior and encourage tolerance for individual differences. Our school is dedicated to visual and performing arts and engages students in project-based tasks while introducing them to cutting-edge tools allowing creativity and self-expression. We immerse all students in our highly developed, art-rich curriculum which exceeds state standards and therefore sets students on a course toward successful, relevant careers.
