Note:  The information below pertains to students NOT enrolled Lansing School District. 


Directions:  Learn more about our exciting summer camp opportunities using the expandable tabs below.  Note that the grade-levels referenced here refer to your child's grade-level during the 2022-2023 school year. 

You will need to know the CAMP CODE for each camp you would like your child to attend, so please note the CAMP CODE(S) prior to beginning the registration below.  Thank you. 


   Unicorns and Rainbows  |  Full Day  |  Camp Code:

What better way to celebrate summer than a day filled with rainbows and unicorns? Students will have a blast discovering the fun activities that explore colors, art, horse costumes, and creative thinking!

Dates/Times:  July 10.  This camp will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.    

Costs:  $50.00 per participant.  Food and transportation are NOT provided. 

 


   Paleontology  |  Full Day  |   Camp Code:  NDK2PA717


Come ready for adventure at ECL! Students will dig into earth science, arts & crafts, and hands-on outdoor activities. Students will learn problem-solving techniques, teamwork, and creative thinking as they learn about dinosaurs, fossils, and equine history.

Dates/Times:  July 17.  This camp will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  

Costs:  $50.00 per participant.  Food and transportation are NOT provided.  

 


   Equine Literacy  |   x2 Half Days  |   Camp Code:

Reading benefits students by improving their focus, memory, and communication skills. Our equine literacy program combines the non-judgmental company of our horses and kinesthetic exercises that target various literacy components to develop well-rounded, confident readers.

Dates/Times:  August 16 & 17.  This camp will run from 8:0 AM to 12:00 PM.

Costs:  $50.00 per participant.  Food and transportation are NOT provided. 

 


  Everything Horse  |  x4 Half Days  |  Camp Code:

Get ready to be immersed in the horse world by working hands on with our staff and herd. Students will learn everything from routine horse care, to grooming, tacking up, and riding their horse. Their new found skills will be shown off in their very own hose show at the end of camp!

Dates/Times:  June 19, 20, 21, and 22.  This camp will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.    

Costs:  $100.00 per participant .  Food and transportation are NOT provided.

Students will pair up with their own horse and will use the scientific method to develop hypotheses, experiments, and collect data to uncover just how unique and complex horses are. Students will have a portfolio, presentation of their findings, and a lasting bond with their horse by the end of camp!

Dates/Times:  July 11, 12, & 13.  This camp will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  

Costs:  $75.00 per participant .  Food and transportation are NOT provided.

  Junior Detective  |  x3 Half Days  |   Camp Code:  ND68HR801


Oh no, our saddle went missing! Are you ready to help the ECL staff solve the case? Junior detectives hunt for clues needed to solve the case and will complete various challenges and activities with their horse and human teammates along the way!

Dates/Times:  August 1, 2, and 3.  This camp will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  

Costs:  $75.00 per participant.  Food and transportation are NOT provided.  

 


  Medieval Adventure  |  x4 Half Days  |   Camp Code:  ND68MA807


Students will ride through history on horseback in this exciting adventure camp! Travel through time to visit, vikings, knights, pirates, and even mythical creatures while learning about horses and the roles they have played our history and culture.

Dates/Times:  August 7, 8, 9, & 10.  This camp will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  

Costs:  $100.00 per participant.  Food and transportation are NOT provided.

Part IV: LIABILITY RELEASE
I agree to the following agreement with the Equine Center for Learning (ECL) and the Lansing School District, a Michigan non-profit Organization, (hereafter referred to as “Center”), as a condition for allowing me, and the persons identified below, to enter the Center’s premises and surrounding land, to be near horses, participate in equine-assisted activities, ride the horses, work near the horses, participate in hay rides, handle horses, use equipment, work with staff and volunteers, and/or receive instruction or guidance in riding, grooming, or handling the horses (these activities will hereafter be referred to in this document as “The Activities”).
IT IS HEREBY AGREED AS FOLLOWS: I/we are aware and acknowledge the inherent dangers, hazards and risks, associated with equine activities. I/we understand that the inherent risks of the equine activities mean those dangerous conditions which are an integral part of the equine activities, include but not limited to: 1. The propensity of any equine to behave in ways that may result in injury, harm or even death to persons on or around them and/or damage to property in their vicinity. 2. The unpredictability of an equine’s reaction to such things as sounds, sudden movement and unfamiliar objects persons or other animals. 3. The equine’s response to certain hazards such as surface and sub-surface objects. 4. Collisions with other equines, animals, people and objects. The potential of any participant to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury to the participant or others, such as falling to maintain control over the equine or to act within his/her ability. I/we assume these risks and accept the consequences involved in the participation of the participant registered on this form. I/we will consult with the instructor of the Equine Center for Learning (ECL) for advice in circumstances where safe practices are in doubt. Warning: Under the Michigan equine activity liability act, an equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in an equine activity resulting from an inherent risk of the equine activity. I/we have read and fully understand the content of this release of liability and agree to comply with the intent to hold harmless or to indemnity the Equine Center for Learning (ECL), the Lansing School District, its’ staff, volunteers or any other individuals and/or organizations involved, from any liability or injury that may result from participation in this program. I/we understand that the Equine Center for Learning (ECL), always recommends that I/we seek the advice of a physician, as many of The Activities pose special physical risks to the participant and even to the volunteer. I/we acknowledge that it is my/our responsibility to make the Equine Center for Learning (ECL), aware of any conditions that may affect my ability to handle, ride and /or be near an equine. I/we have received information on the signs, symptoms and consequences of concussions in accordance with Public Acts 342 and 343 of 2012.
