Facilitator - Jeff Vanderlaan LSD Technology Director

The concept of Bullying has changed drastically over the last two decades with the infusion of technology in our daily lives. Historically, bullying consisted of face-to-face negative interactions including name-calling, pushing, hitting, and threatening. Technology has added a new layer to this phenomenon, where unfortunately many students are subjected to being bullied in and outside of school via phone, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media outlets. Parents, schools and communities are struggling to figure out how these issues can be addressed and eliminated. This workshop will offer an overview of what education and parenting experts know about cyberbullying, legal ramifications, as well as specific strategies for prevention and intervention at the home and school level.
