“Why is my Child so Angry”

Facilitator - Andrea Calabrese Director of Child and Family Services
Wednesday, April 14, 2021, 5:30-6:30pm

Children are experiencing a great deal of frustration and pressure to keep up with their peers in terms of climbing the social ladder, fitting in, having the latest clothes, cell phones, and establishing relationships. Many children have difficulty recognizing the triggers that lead to inappropriate behaviors, and lack the empathy necessary to see how their affect impacts those around them. The facilitator will provide an overview of the ABC framework of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist parents in understanding the triggers and thoughts associated with incidents when children become angry. Facilitator will also guide participants through de-escalation strategies to assist children with self-regulation. This session will provide support for parents to deal with their own emotions when dealing with a child who presents a negative affect on a consistent basis.
