Bond Updates

The Lansing School District thanks our community for the overwhelming support in passing the 2002 bond imitative, with over 71% of voters approving.

This success reflects a strong community effort involving students, staff, parents, families, community partners, and local businesses.

The following is a progress report on building projects and improvements through October of 2024.

The new Mt. Hope School has a projected capacity of 400 students in grades 5-8 and is being constructed on the site of the old school building.

Demolition began in July 2023, followed by footing installation in November/December. Construction is scheduled for completion in Summer 2025, and the new school will open for student use in Fall 2025, ready to accommodate students for the 2025 – 2026 school year.

The new Willow School will accommodate 450-500 students in grades K-8. It will feature sustainable systems including geothermal heating, solar orientation, and solar panels. Construction began in Spring 2023 and is scheduled to be completed in 2026. The site will include shared spaces, dedicated classroom buildings for grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8, and include amenities such as playgrounds, outdoor learning areas, and community spaces.

The final planning phase with stakeholders took place on October 8, 2024, with the below design being created. Construction on the new building is tentatively scheduled to take place in the spring of 2027.


Air conditioning systems were installed in each elementary school’s classrooms and were operational for the start of the 2024 – 2025 school year.
