Lansing School District groundbreaking ceremony for new Mt. Hope school set for noon Thursday

LANSING, Mich. – The Lansing School District will celebrate the construction of the new Mt. Hope school at a groundbreaking event scheduled for noon on Thursday, August 24, located at 1215 East Mount Hope Avenue in Lansing. Community members and media can park along Shubel Avenue and enter the construction site near the corner of Shubel and Mt. Hope.

“This is an historic event in the Lansing School District,” said superintendent Ben Shuldiner. “School districts don’t get to build new school buildings every day, and this moment is an exciting new chapter in our district thanks to the support and love of our taxpayers and school district families.”

The new Mt. Hope school is made possible through the passage of an increase school bond passed in 2022. An update on the bond progress will be outlined at the event.

Several VIP community and education leaders will join the district at the ceremony including City of Lansing Mayor Andy Schor. In the unexpected case of sudden bad weather, the ceremony may be rescheduled.
